A monthly contribution does not buy a painting. It buys time: days in the studio where I need not think about what sells, how large the canvas may be, or when it has to be finished.
That freedom is not a luxury but the condition. The work I believe in most began almost always without a plan and without a buyer — a study that took far too long, a canvas too large to be sensible. That is the work you make possible.
Nothing is offered in return: no print, no first refusal, no name on a list. A reward would turn a gift into an order, and the very freedom it was all for would be gone again.
